About Andy Steere and the purpose of this site

Welcome to my site.

I have created this site in order to provide access to my work and to be an encouragement to those who are apprenticed to, or are considering apprenticeship to Jesus.

My passion is to do the work of Jesus amongst the marginalized and forgotten, particularly those affected by the HIV/AIDS pandemic in Africa.  I am also passionate about de-mystifying spiritual formation, and am enthralled by the desire of God to befriend us and work with us as his agents for good in the world.

I am not a particularly clever writer, however “writing is for reading”–and as such I shall endeavour to provide transparent access to my observations and writings.

About me:

I am a husband, a father, a friend, a fair-weather triathlete, and an occasional cigar smoker.

I am the husband of Mardi Steere, who is my greatest teacher and friend.  I am the father of Riley (daughter), and a newborn son, Liam.

Following my engineering undergraduate studies, I spent 6 years as a nuclear-trained submarine officer, including three years on the USS Maine (SSBN 741). I studied for an M.S. in Physics during my last two years in the Navy, which I thoroughly enjoyed.  In June 2005, my wife and I returned to her native Australia.

I specialise in managing high-risk multidisciplinary projects, and have been privileged to introduce the first use of two forms of ‘relationship contracting’ (Early Contractor Involvement and Alliance Contracting) at the South Australian Water Corporation on two major infrastructure projects:

-Torrens Pipeline Project ($22.0M)

-Glenelg to Adelaide Park Lands Recycled Water Project ($74.90M)

I am presently the Director of a $410M program of works at SA Water which includes the North South Interconnection System Project.

I pray you find the writings in this site useful in some small way.
